Topic:
When you study the topic PM and his Cabinet and House of Lords , we learn about the various methods employed by the Parliament to scrutinize the Executive , such as : Question time, Debate, Select Committee etc.
Therefore, today you should watch the PM Question time online. Question time take place once a week and each session is 30 minutes where all the MPs in the parliament can question the PM on any subject matters.
The session usually starts with a routine question from an MP about the Prime Minister's engagements. Following the PM's reply, the MP can put a supplementary question about anything relating to the PM's duties or any aspect of Government policy.
The reason for asking the PM about his engagements is because, until recently, the PM can ask any member of the Cabinet to answer the posed question , therefore avoid answering questions himself. But once the PM answers a question, he is obliged to answer follow-up questions (on any topic). The only question that the Prime Minister had to answer personally was his/her list of engagements for the day.
Therefore the PM is traditionally asked this question first, and all subsequent questions are follow-up questions, forcing the Prime Minister to answer the questions himself/herself.
