i think with the VLE, there is an SI question that may arise, as to how they judges are going to interprete the statute. However, i'm not too well verse with the topic, but it may be something that we can look into
if you look at the materials uol sent us, i don't know which book it was, but one of it, EXPRESSLY said that SI would be appearing as a problem question this year. try to do 2007 SI problem question, maybe it'll help.
you can write your essay for statutory interpretation by MIRAT(Material Facts, Issues, Rules, Arguments/Application, Tentative Conclusion) or ILAC (Issues, Laws, Application/Arguements, Conclusion).
For the part of the Application/Arguement, u can divide into
Broad Literal/Narrow Literal, Absurd/Not Absurd, Mischief/Mischief.
For example
In a broad literal sense......
However, in a narrow..
It would be absurd that....
It would not absurd if.....
It is presuming that this Act is drafted when..........
But......it is presuming that............
The format will let u think critically and in the end forms better answer.
Hope it helps.^^
